Chiropractic Care
Before practice members come in for the first time, they watch the introductory video to chiropractic. In the office,
our team uses spinal models to illustrate how the body moves and functions. We explain how the brain, spine, and body are all linked.
How Chiropractic Works
The brain stays in constant communication with your body by sending messages down the spinal cord. These messages come out at every level, which are called nodes. Using an analogy, it’s almost like your brain is the server, your spine is a router, and your organs are the computer. If there’s a miscommunication between the server and the router, the computer can’t work properly, because the correct information is not coming through. While we may occasionally use other methods as necessary, our primary adjusting technique is full spine Diversified, the most widely used. We provide practice members with the relief they need using proven manual manipulation techniques. Chiropractic wants to ensure your brain and body are connected the way they should be, and the spine is free of subluxation, allowing optimal function.

It Takes Time
Once a person begins going through our processes and systems, most quickly realise that, in most cases, chiropractic is not a quick fix. When you consider that many of the problems seen at The Balanced Chiropractic Centre have been lingering for years, it makes sense that it will take a bit of time to correct.
During the report of findings, the length of time and frequency of visits are clearly outlined, so the practice member has reasonable expectations.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a chiropractor, and how do I know if I need one?
Chiropractic care may be used in many ways. People typically see a chiropractor for conditions such as lower back pain, neck pain, headaches, shoulder pain, hip pain, and many other conditions of similar nature. Chiropractors have been trained to assess and correct posture and alignment of the spine, but also to maintain it, which allows the body to express wellness and good health.
Can I claim my chiropractic session back on my health fund?
Yes, you can claim chiropractic on your health fund, depending on your coverage.
Are chiropractors university trained?
Yes, chiropractors registered in Australia must complete a minimum five (5) year University Qualification training. Once completed, they must be an AHPRA registered practitioner. This training includes extensive education in neurology, radiology, orthopaedics, and chiropractic diagnostics. Chiropractors are also obliged to take Continual Personal Development (CPD) courses each year.
Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor?
No, you do not need a referral to see a chiropractor. Chiropractors are considered primary healthcare practitioners.
What is the cracking sound and why does it feel so good?
The ‘cracking’ or ‘clicking’ noise you hear is just gas being trapped in the joint. When the adjustment is delivered, a suction is created in the joint, releasing the gas. This noise is not from the bone.
Is getting adjusted going to be painful?
Getting adjusted is typically not painful, in fact, most people feel instant relief of pressure. This depends on the individual case. People who have been in a great deal of pain for a prolonged period may require longer to relieve the pain.
How many sessions will I need?
It’s always your choice to continue receiving the benefits of chiropractic care. Most of our practice members choose to continue getting adjusted, as they enjoy the ongoing benefits of living their best life pain-free, and having a healthy functioning nervous system. We pride ourselves on always giving you our best recommendations based on where your health is at when you present and the goals you would like to achieve.
